Persimmon’s 28 regional businesses nominated their young people in four categories – Trade Apprentice of the Year, Sales Trainee of the Year, Business Trainee of the Year and the Duncan Davidson Award.

Finalists in each category travelled to Persimmon’s headquarters in York for a special lunch with group chief executive Jeff Fairburn.

The runner-up prize capped a great year for Jack who has in the last 12 months also been awarded the Barry & Peggy Scholarship Foundation award and the New College Stamford Construction Apprentice of the Year.

Jack said:

“I’m really thrilled to be nominated for this award and to finish as a runner-up.

“It’s been a great few months for me personally, having been lucky enough to be given a couple of construction awards.

“I’m currently working at a development in Oundle and I’m really enjoying working on the site. I hope that I can continue to progress in 2017.”

Simon McDonald, deputy managing director for Persimmon Homes East Midlands, said:

“Jack has done really well since he joined the company and he is a worthy recipient of this runner-up prize.

“We are committed to our training programme and teaching young people about the industry from the ground up. That is how we ensure we have the best people working for us.”
