Branston Brush Up on Painting Skills for Sudbrooke Scout Camp

Dedicated employees from Branston’s Lincolnshire site enjoyed a day volunteering to renovate a much-loved community venue in Sudbrooke on Tuesday 1 November.

Branston’s sales and marketing team donned their overalls and gave two of the amenities buildings at Sudbrooke Scout Camp, a much-needed coat of paint, both to smarten them up and provide protection against the elements for many years to come. Sudbrooke Scout Camp, based on the outskirts of Lincoln, is used year-round by Lincoln District Scouts for bushcraft as well as a number of other outdoor activities.

Dividing into two teams, Branston’s employees worked in the renovation of the portaloos and the 30-year-old wooden scout hut as part of their team-building day.

George Christoudias, Branston sales and marketing director, said:

“Our business often gets involved in supporting local community projects, so it was great to be able to get out together and take on this challenge as a team. We’re more used to working in warm offices than winter woodlands, so I was very impressed to see everyone getting stuck in and demonstrating their painting skills.”  

Chris Dutton, site manager for Lincoln & District Scouts, thanked Branston for their support:

“They really got stuck in and completed two buildings to a very high standard, as manager of the site I will be eternally grateful to the team and both Roy, the site warden, and myself hold them in high regard.”

Earlier this year, Sudbrooke Scout Camp also welcomed a group of young volunteers from Lincoln and Gainsborough as part of the National Citizen Service to help with the camp’s renovation, by building a new bridge, improving the pathways, decorating the centre and creating a new flower bed.
