Nottingham Ranked Within Top Five European Cities For Property Price Growth

Property prices in the East Midlands have continued to increase year-on-year and the recently published Knight Frank Global Cities Residential Index has revealed that Nottingham is within the top five cities for housing market growth.

British cities Bristol and London came in just ahead of Nottingham in the global rankings of property price increases, with the city’s recorded annual growth being measured at 10.7%. Director at East Midlands-based Richard Watkinson & Partners, Amy Tillson, has seen a lot of activity in the city’s property market and she is pleased that these figures support the positive trend being experienced in Nottingham.

She said:

“Nottingham’s property market is booming at the moment and to be ranked so highly for property price growth is proof of this.

“The city is not just within the top three British cities and top five European cities but also within the top 30 global cities – really putting Nottingham on the map as a location to invest and live.

“Due to the region-wide lack of good quality housing stock, we’re finding that properties are being sold incredibly quickly and I’m not surprised at all that we’ve seen an almost 11% increase in property prices over the past year as demand is so high.

“There were sceptics who, at the beginning of the year, forecast a difficult 2016 for the region – with a hike in stamp duty charges and a looming EU referendum casting uncertainty of the future of the market – so it’s great news that Nottingham is flying the flag for the UK as a testament to the resilient property market we have in the East Midlands.”

Richard Watkinson & Partners has had a presence in the city centre for almost 10 years and has recently opened a dedicated lettings department to support the growing interest in the rental market. The family run agency, which was established more than 25 years ago in Nottinghamshire, is also a member of the Relocation Agent Network (RAN), which works to better connect agents across the country.

“We work across the region – and have dealings with businesses across the country – so know the market incredibly well. These new statistics are fantastic news for Nottingham and is proof that now is an excellent time to buy,” added Amy.
