Leicester Solicitors Strengthens Family Team with Senior Promotion for Industry Accredited Specialist

Nelsons Solicitors has announced the promotion of Jennifer McNeil to an associate in the family team at the firm’s Leicester office.

Jennifer’s promotion comes having also been recognised by Resolution – an organisation of 6,500 family lawyers and professionals – as a Resolution Accredited Specialist.

Having studied for a degree in law and psychology at De Montfort University, Jennifer began her career as a personal assistant for a partner in a Leicester law firm.

“From an early stage in my career I found that I enjoyed working in family law, so I decided to begin training as a paralegal and to convert my BA Honours degree to a full law degree. I went on to complete my LPC through distance learning – qualifying in 2011,” said Jennifer.

“Having worked for a high street firm previously, I wanted to experience working for a regional law firm and joined the team at Nelsons in 2013. Nelsons has a well-established and well-respected family department dealing with divorce and the related financial matters – which was a big draw for me.

“I am really enjoying working at Nelsons and am delighted to have been promoted to associate. Within the team of five at our Leicester office, we each have our own specialisms, working across children and divorce cases, creating a knowledgeable and expert department that I am proud to be a part of.

“In order to gain accreditation as a Resolution specialist I was required to undertake a series of assessments which tested my expertise on the specialist subject of financial remedy cases and proceedings, which arise on divorce. The assessment process was a great opportunity to demonstrate my expertise in this area of family law and this accreditation – and my promotion - have been major landmarks in my career to date and I’m extremely proud of these achievements,” Jennifer added.
