Almost £1500 Raised For Leicester Charity Wishes 4 Kids

Almost £1,500 has been raised at the R3 East Midlands Women’s Group annual charity dinner for Leicester charity Wishes 4 Kids, which grants wishes for terminally ill children.

L-R: Helen Robinson, Rachel McCahill, Megan Wallis, Su Garner, Chloe Poskitt, Ruth Thurland

The dinner, which is held every year by The Association of Business Recovery Professionals (R3), took place at Nottingham Conference Centre on October 6.

Funds were raised via a raffle and guests were entertained by live music at the black and white themed black tie event.

The charity Wishes 4 Kids was chosen as the beneficiary by the R3 East Midlands Women’s Group committee members. These are chair Helen Robinson from BDO, Rachel McCahill from Nelsons Solicitors, Chloe Poskitt from Browne Jacobson, Su Garner from Gateley, Megan Wallis from Bates Weston and Ruth Thurland from Geldards.

A spokesperson for the committee said:

“It’s fantastic we have raised so much money for such a worthy charity. The annual dinner is always an entertaining event. This year we chose to support Wishes 4 Kids for the wonderful work they do to bring smiles to the faces of terminally ill children and children who have experienced life-changing physical or emotional traumas.”

The charity grants wishes for children up to the age of 18 and has made magical things happen for hundreds of young people in Leicestershire.

Founder of Wishes 4 Kids Russell Brickett thanked the East Midland Women’s Group for their donation. He said:

“As a local charity it really means a great deal to receive donations such as these; every penny raised will be put to good use, helping us bring a short period of respite to poorly children, or children who have suffered major abuse or are diagnosed as HIV positive.

“The time when a child has a wish granted is a moment that will be treasured by them for the rest of their life and it is also a time which parents remember, when their child forgot their suffering for a little while.”

R3 works to raise awareness amongst individuals and businesses on the key benefits in obtaining financial advice. The organisation provides information and signposting so people can locate professionals who are able to advise and work with underperforming and financially distressed businesses and individuals.

This year the R3 dinner raised £1,455 for Wishes 4 Kids.
