PKF Cooper Parry Completes Its 2nd Annual Community Week

More than 150 members of the team from Midlands-based PKF Cooper Parry have added gardening, cleaning and painting to their many talents over the last few weeks – and all in the name of charity.

PKF Cooper Parry, which has offices in the East and West Midlands, launched its first Community Week in August 2015 as part of its CP Giving Programme, which pledges to carry out 365 days of volunteering every year – the equivalent of one day for every employee.

Following the success of last year’s activities, the firm extended its commitment this year, supporting 10 charities and contributing around 1200 hours of volunteered time to charities and good causes across Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and the West Midlands.

150 team members volunteered to take part in a variety of activities across the county - from gardening with Derbyshire Wildlife Trust at the Golden Brook Reserve in Breaston to painting sheds and a sensory room at the Royal School for the Deaf in Derby and dismantling a shop at the Derby Play and Recycling Centre, then painting, reconstructing the racking and restocking the shop entirely.

The week’s activities have taken the PKF Cooper Parry team more than half way to achieving its 2016 volunteering target.

Ade Cheatham, CEO at PKF Cooper Parry, led a team of 12 team members who joined Derbyshire Wildlife Trust helped at Golden Brook Reserve in Breaston.

He explained:

“Getting out of the office and into our local communities really opens your eyes to just how hard charities and voluntary organisations have to work in order to deliver their valuable services.

“Working together to carry out a variety of practical tasks is not only a great team building experience for us, but the knowledge that you’ve contributed in a small way to some incredible causes is really satisfying and gives a moral boost to everyone involved.
“Being generous is one of our core values, so next year we’re going to make our Community Week even bigger!”

Claire Hanley-Opik, Marketing Officer at Derbyshire Wildlife Trust, added:

“Derbyshire Wildlife Trust relies so much on support from volunteers, both individuals and from corporate support such as PKF Cooper Parry.

“Our vision is for our landscapes to be rich in wildlife and valued by everyone. We will achieve this by creating living landscapes through founding and championing wildlife rich landscapes, defending wildlife and wild places and inspiring people and communities to act.

“PKF Cooper Parry’s support has enabled us to do this.”

Over the past 11 years PKF Cooper Parry has raised money for a range of local and national charities, including Macmillan, Alzheimer’s Society, Loros Hospice, Rainbows Hospice and Headway.

The firm is the headline sponsors of this year’s Colour Blast Dash family runs, which are taking place across the Midlands to raise money for Leicester charity The Laura Centre, which offers bereavement counselling for parents and children.
