Nottinghamshire Charity Increases Reach Of Its Service With Office Move

A trauma support service in Nottingham has relocated to the city centre, as part of ongoing plans to improve the reach of its services to combat the trauma and distress caused by sexual abuse in the city.

Imara, which supports hundreds of children, teenagers and families in Nottinghamshire coping with the effects of sexual abuse, has moved from its offices in West Bridgford to larger premises on Mansfield Road.

As a result, the not-for-profit organisation will now be able to provide better facilities and more services while being closer and more accessible to clients travelling to the office by public transport.

Co-founder of Imara, Cath Wakeman, said:

“This is a very important time for Imara as we are seeing an increase in the number of clients approaching us for help and support and so we decided to relocate our office to the city centre so that we are more accessible and more visible.

“Imara is a vital lifeline for our clients and we are delighted that we can now offer an enhanced and improved service to them by providing extra therapy rooms and services. Having also made contact with supporting services more than 2,000 times last year, the move will make it easier for us to collaborate with nearby charities and partners.”

Imara will be hosting a launch event for its new office on 28 September to celebrate the relocation and raise awareness of the special work that the service is currently doing across Nottinghamshire.

Co-founder of Imara, Tamsin Baldwin added:

“We wanted to host an event that would introduce Imara to the area and allow our neighbours and professionals in our sector to see the great work that we do and to network together.

“Last year, we supported more than 80 victims of sexual abuse in Nottinghamshire and we expect this annual number to increase over the next 12 months. The event will be pivotal in raising awareness of the charity and will ensure that we continue to receive much-needed support to provide the best service that we can.

“We look forward to introducing ourselves to our new neighbours later this month and welcoming everyone to our new offices.”
