RICS Matrics Committee Elects Innes England Surveyor As Chair

Assistant surveyor at Innes England, Laura Hibbs has been elected chair of the Nottingham division of the RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) Matrics surveyor network.

The Matrics is a networking and support group within the wider RICS institution, designed especially for students, trainees and newly qualified surveyors.

The RICS East Midlands annual general meeting, which took place last week, served as an opportunity for the local RICS committee to elect a new chairperson for RICS Matrics in Nottingham.

Laura said

“I am extremely grateful to the committee for giving me this amazing opportunity to give something back to the Matrics group. I feel a great deal of pride to be such an integral part of the RICS at this stage in my career.

 “I’ve met so many great people through the networking services facilitated by Matrics and I look forward to using my position to influence others to do the same”.

Laura has been on the RICS Matrics committee for over two years and has acted as vice chair for a year before accepting her new position.

Laura joined Innes England, which has offices in Leicester, Derby and Nottingham, during her final two years at university. Laura is currently working her way through the APC process to become a chartered surveyor.

Tim Garratt, managing director at Innes England said:

“We have nothing but respect for the service RICS Matrics provides to the surveyor profession in uniting its junior members to work towards common goals and we’re positive the committee has made a great decision in electing Laura.”

As well as support for the surveyor profession, RICS Matrics also focusses much of its resources on charity and fundraising.

Laura added:

“I am also excited to support the chosen Matrics Charity, CRASH and I’m eager to get to work on new fundraising activities in my new role.”

CRASH is a construction industry charity that helps homeless and hospice charities by channelling the expertise of construction professionals. They offer the sourcing of building materials and the technical knowledge of how to use them– making a difference to people who are in support.

Laura has personally benefitted from the RICS Matrics networking service, and added:

“I also aim to get more people attending the Matrics events and attract a wider scope of individuals from a variety of different property backgrounds.”
