Gleeds wins LABC Building Excellence Award for second year running

Local property and construction consultancy, Gleeds, has become the first company to top the “Best Partnership with a Local Building Control Team” category at the East Midlands Local Authority Building Control (LABC) Building Excellence Awards two years in a row.

The commendation recognises the highly effective six year partnership between Gleeds and Ashfield Council, which has increased the amount of applications presented to the LABC partnering scheme on a year-on-year basis. It also acknowledges the company’s work on a number of high profile projects, including; the Rotherham New York Stadium, UK AS Watson Superdrug PLC, Capital Quarter fit-out for the Home Office and the Shire Hall project for Cambridge County Council.

The success of the partnership can be attributed to Gleeds’ early involvement with Ashfield Council at the feasibility stage, helping them to secure projects and influence design for compliance, and by providing valuable guidance which can save money and time in delivering projects.

Andy Hill, Building Control Officer for Ashfield Council, said:

“The approach that Gleeds takes is very collaborative. The team works diligently to ensure that alternative approaches are explored to meet client’s budget, requirements and at the same time keep open communication with building control, regarding redesigns or specifications to ensure compliance is achieved.”

Anthony Cork, Director for Gleeds, added:

“It is a real honor to have been recognised for the second year running for our partnership with Ashfield Council by the LABC. We are proud to have been working together for over six years and hope that this continues for many more to come.”

Following the award, Gleeds has automatically qualified as a finalist for the LABC Grand Finals 2016, taking place in London on Monday 28th November.
