Miller Homes Unveils £2.2M School at Brailsford

Derbyshire pupils have been given a glimpse of their brand new primary school, which has been provided by Miller Homes.

Youngsters from Brailsford Church of England Primary School were taken on a tour of the £2.2million building on Luke Lane, Brailsford, before it was unveiled as part of an official handover.

The school, which is next to Miller Homes’ Dales View development, includes four classrooms as well as an IT suite, large multi-use hall and library. Replacing the current building on Main Road, the new modern school will open its doors to pupils and teachers in June.

Last summer, children from the school helped to lay the first foundations at the site – and Alastair Parsons, sales director for Miller Homes, said he was delighted to welcome them back to see the completed project.

“It is always rewarding to be able to offer such an important facility as a school to a community and seeing the pupils’ excitement today made it all the more worthwhile,” he explained.

“This school is at the heart of the village and will serve generations of families for years to come. The state-of-the-art rooms create a modern learning environment for pupils, while the spacious playground allows them to have fun outdoors.”

David Wood, head teacher at Brailsford Church of England Primary School, added:

“The children have seen pictures of the school as it has taken shape and they are really excited that the wait is nearly over. They have enjoyed exploring the building and are already imagining where their books will go and where they will play.

“We are now looking forward to moving into the new school in June.”

Pupils celebrate the opening of the new school with head teacher David Wood and representatives from Miller Homes and Seddon.

Construction of the school was carried out by Seddon and Eamonn Burns, regional director for the Midlands, was there to help with the handover.

He said:

“We are delighted to be involved in building a school that will serve a village community. For us, it has been about working closely with the school and going on the journey with them as they enter a new era.

“We are immensely proud of our partnership with Miller Homes and are pleased to be able to offer this facility to the village. The school complements the new homes at Dales View, as well as the existing community.”

There are a number of properties still available at Dales View, including the stunning four-bedroom Mitford and five-bedroom Chatsworth, which are both ideal for families. For further details visit www.millerhomes.co.uk or call 03332 226 030.
