Cavendish Residential Combats Low Graduate Retention

Following the news that Nottingham has the lowest retention rate for University graduates in the UK, Cavendish Residential has hired three placement students in a bid to keep Nottingham’s best graduates in the city.

L-R - Marcus Russell, Freddy Hoare, Antoni Grimes and Lucy Sexton

It has been reported that only 23.3 per cent of Nottingham’s graduates are employed in the city but Lace Market based Cavendish Residential has hired a Property Manager, Lettings Negotiator and a Maintenance Co-ordinator to curb Nottingham’s poor retention rate.

Antoni Grimes (21), Lucy Sexton (19) and Freddy Hoare (20) study Business Management BA at Nottingham Trent University and shall be spending their second year of study at the property consultancy with a view to a future career in Nottingham.

Marcus Russell, Director of Lettings at Cavendish Residential and part of The Nottingham Trent University Alumni said:

“We’re absolutely delighted to have offered these three students a job at Cavendish Residential. As a Nottingham Trent graduate myself, Nottingham is an excellent city with so many opportunities and it is important for every business to try to keep hold of our best students.

“Antoni, Lucy and Freddy are all on a very prestigious course that only accepts 30 students a year and originally we were only going to take one student on but after meeting them we didn’t want to lose any of them.

“Nottingham Trent University contacted us about the opportunity and after placing the advert we received significant interest so it is clear that students in Nottingham, given the opportunity, want to earn experience and jobs that could lead to full time positions following graduation.”

Lucy starts her 12-month placement on May 31 and Antoni and Freddy start at the end of June with the possibility of also working throughout their final year alongside finishing their degree.

Lucy Sexton, Lettings Negotiator at Cavendish Residential said:

“I went to an assessment day at University and Cavendish Residential was the only business that stood out. I have always been passionate about the property industry.”

It’s been a fantastic year for Cavendish Residential, which is celebrating it’s ten year anniversary in May.  The firm has launched a sales division and moved into a brand new office, this success has put the consultancy into a position where it can expand and grow.

Freddy Hoare, Property Manager at Cavendish Residential said:

“I was more open about the industry I wanted to join on my placement but most businesses made me feel like I would have a small role to play. Cavendish Residential however, made me feel like there was a huge opportunity to have a big impact.”

Antoni Grimes, Maintenance Co-ordinator at Cavendish Residential said:

“The biggest attraction for me was the personal touch at Cavendish. I will get to work closely with clients and right from the original talk, it felt more personal with everyone in the business.”
