Cleaning company's staff continue to take lead role in keeping city theatre sparkling

DERBY Theatre is set for a long run – a decade of business with city-based commercial cleaning company OfficeCare.

The theatre has just agreed to a three-year extension of having its premises in Theatre Walk cleaned by Officecare, who have been working there for the past seven years.

A team of staff have a starring role in keeping the premises smart, tidy, and freshly clean for both staff and theatregoers. Daily, they clean the auditorium, behind the main stage, the studio, actors' dressings rooms, box office, bistro and bar area. They usually do an extra job after matinee performances before the curtains go up again in the evening.

OfficeCare also cleans the theatre's rehearsal room in Green Lane.

Managing director Martin Booth said:

“I am delighted that the Theatre has asked us to do an encore

and continue keeping this prestigious set of Derby's cultural life in tip top condition.”

Account manager Jenny Kerlo said:

“No two days are ever the same at the theatre, so we are in constant contact with the client and working with them to see that our staff give a polished performance!"

“Our staff work flexible hours because of the different demands of the theatre and so we use our hi-tech tracking system that tells our head office real time staff attendance which gives the client peace of mind.”

As part of the deal OfficeCare has given £12,000 in sponsorship to the theatre that allows it to take corporate guests to shows.

The theatre is part of a portfolio of venues in the sport and leisure sector that are cleaned by Officecare, including Derby County's iPro Stadium in Pride Park, the 3aaa County Cricket Ground in Derby, dance-focussed arts centre deda in Chapel Street, Derby, and Nottingham Greyhound Stadium.
