Leicester Racecourse is set to give back to the local community in 2016

After the success of 2015, Leicester Racecourse is looking to share its achievements with the local community in 2016. As a way of giving back, the racecourse has selected Bamboozle Theatre, LOROS Hospice, and Hope Against Cancer as its chosen charities for 2016.
The racecourse plans to raise money for the three local charities throughout 2016, by hosting a number of different events. In addition to raising money for the chosen charities, General Manager, Rob Bracken is keen to promote a philanthropic flare to every event, further implementing the racecourse into the local community.
Rob said:
“Over the years, Leicester Racecourse has always been involved with charities in some way, shape or form, but we are now in a great position to really help by not only generating funds, but getting their voices heard.
I believe that we all have a responsibility to support to the great work of charities, and by giving Bamboozle Theatre, LOROS, and Hope Against Cancer the opportunity to build their profile and raise awareness of the important work they do, this is Leicester Racecourse’s way of doing this.”
2015 has been a stellar year for Leicester Racecourse, but Rob now believes that this enhanced profile should be utilised to assist raising awareness and funds for charities, and that the racecourse offers a fantastic platform to do this.
With so many incredible charities in Leicestershire alone, it is often difficult to decide which to support but Rob explains how the message that the three chosen charities are looking to promote was one reason Leicester Racecourse is supporting them.
He said:
“The message and the work that all three charities do really resonated with me. Bamboozle Theatre works to put on theatre performances for disabled children; LOROS supports more than 2,500 terminally ill adults and their families across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland every year; and Hope Against Cancer are really proactive about researching cancer and working towards preventing it. I wanted to really engage with the areas that all three charities are all in and the work they do is incredibly inspiring.”
LOROS Event Lead Laura Betts said:
“Following a successful year working closely with Leicester Racecourse as their ‘charity of the year’ in 2015, everyone at LOROS was extremely pleased to hear the news that we were once again be one of their chosen charities.
Leicester Racecourse is a fantastic organisation to be associated with and we can’t wait to work with them and start organizing some of the fundraising events we have planned throughout the up-and-coming year.”
Nigel Rose, Hope Against Cancer’s Chief Executive, said:
“We are delighted to have been chosen as one of Leicester Racecourse’s charities this year.
It will give a tremendous boost to awareness about Hope’s vital, life-saving research and any monies raised will be spent locally on cancer research projects which will have a clear benefit for local cancer patients now and into the future.”
Christopher Davies, artistic director of Bamboozle, added:
"Bamboozle feels privileged to be one of the Leicester Racecourse charities for 2016. The families we work with have very disabled children and face a lifelong struggle to find meaningful activities for their whole family to do together. We are looking forward to working with the Racecourse and Leicestershire people to raise funds so that we can provide more theatre activity days for them to enjoy.”
