Building features company scales the heights to a seven year turnover high

A specialist roofing and cladding company whose work features on many buildings is celebrating after achieving an annual turnover of £7m – a record since a management buyout seven years ago.

Ilkeston-based Cladceil is enjoying a boom, with directors keen to invest in the business after the recession which particularly hit the construction industry.

The company was set up in 1986 but there was a management buyout in March 2008.

Now, directors Stuart Pinson, Tony Seabridge, and Peter Ward are building for the future. They are among the 17 employees, which exceeds the pre-recession levels, and are hoping to take on one or two more staff in this next year to cope with an increased workload.

For building exteriors the company designs schemes, sources items such as roofing, cladding in various materials, bespoke fascias and soffits and industrial door systems and then fits them. It has a similar process for internal refurbishments which made up £1.5m of the turnover to the year at the end of October.

Cladceil's biggest job last year, worth £800,000, was providing roof and wall cladding to the new £10.8m sports hall recently built at the University of Derby's main site on Kedleston Road. It has also just fitted aluminium feature profiles and terracotta rainscreen cladding to the new Premier Inn on Full Street.

It is about to complete work on the new Eastpark shopping centre at Colwick, Nottingham.

Stuart said:

“We are thrilled when we see our work on so many different types of buildings in our core area of operations, mainly in the East Midlands and Yorkshire."

“We are delighted to work with well-known local companies such as Ivygrove Developments, GF Tomlinson, Radleigh Group, B&K Building Services, Wildgoose Construction, and Clegg Group, but we also do smaller projects as well."

“We have also completed projects further afield in England, Wales and Scotland,” said Peter. “We have just started work on a flagship BMW showroom in Cheltenham, worth £750,000 to our company.”

With its success the company has recently invested in new vehicles, new management system software and staff training.

Future plans include refurbishment of their premises in Falcon Court on the Manners Industrial Estate to provide a modern working environment and improved conditions for staff.

Tony concluded:

“We are delighted that the company came through the recession fairly strong and we are now looking forward to an even brighter future.”
