American Investment For Long Eaton Based Mouse House

American Investment For Long Eaton Based Mouse House

A DERBY based online estate agency has attracted a significant investment from America in a move which will catapult the firm to the next level.

Long Eaton based Mouse House, which opened in 2010, has attracted a generous investment from US businessman John Bailye (62), after he saw the agent was looking to raise between £5-10M.

Mark Whitehead, MD of Mouse House, (42), said:

"We are delighted that John has decided to invest and become both a shareholder and director of the company.

"He brings great credibility to our business and it means a lot to us that he has endorsed it with both his time and money. He sees Mouse House as a way of revolutionising how property is bought and sold in the UK, and hopes that in the future this model could be used in America, and maybe even on a global scale."

Mr Bailye is the founder of the pharmaceutical software giant, Dendrite, which one in three pharmaceutical firms use today. In 2009, he sold the company for almost $800 million, before moving into venture funding in Manhattan, and invested in around 20 businesses.

Mr Bailye said:

"The opportunity for what Mouse House is doing is huge. There is no longer the need for expensive high street estate agents to broker sales. I had recently taken the decision to spend half of my time in the UK and half of my time in New York. I wanted to become involved in a fast growing, well managed business which had the potential to disrupt an industry – in this case, property sales. Mouse House fitted all of these parameters."

Around 93 per-cent of house searches are now conducted online. Mouse House's unique business model allows sellers to upload their own advert onto the website, and the brand has already sold over 1500 houses so far using this platform and business model.

Mr Whitehead added:

"People use an estate agent because they feel that they have no choice. Mouse House allows the vendor to self-manage the sale by uploading their own property photos, and give them tools to sell their house without agent fees."
