Europa Boosts £1.7m IT Investment with New Telecoms Solution for Nottingham Branch

Nottingham based Europa Worldwide Logistics is investing £100,000 in the latest communications solution across the business in its drive to be innovative and improve productivity.

Based at the 12,000 sq ft high tech Rushcliffe Technology and Enterprise Centre (RTEC) in West Bridgford, the Nottingham branch manages requirements for customer across the East Midlands. It is one of 11 branches across the UK and Europa also has an office in Hong Kong.

This is the latest in a series of significant investments made by the company, one of the UK’s leading privately owned transport companies, as part of a programme of ambitious restructuring to re-engineer and improve efficiencies for Europa’s customers across its 11 branches and sites in the UK.

The project will see the national rollout of a new communications solution across the whole of the UK. Expected to be complete and in place by May 2015, the system will also enable telephony to be integrated with the company’s bespoke new IT system, known as Leonardo, further enhancing the £1.7m IT investment announced earlier this year.

Leonardo is a project designed to rewrite Europa’s core road freight systems. It is the first stage of a long term investment programme that will see the company’s operations and communications streamlined. Once completed, the new system will offer a fully integrated, end-to-end freight management system, providing a fully harmonised system across the branches and partner network.

Richard Litchfield, IT Director at Europa, said: “The introduction of our new communications system takes us one step closer to achieving seamless integration across the business.”

The system will increase mobility, enabling Europa’s 500 plus employees to ‘hot-desk’ to other branches and have their calls move with them and integrates mobile phones as extensions on the system. All communications activity with real-time reports will be visible and an analysis of individual and branch performance can be provided on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.
