Trent College Opens Doors to Future Sixth Formers

Year 11 students may only just be getting back into the morning routine, but it’s not too early to start thinking about what happens after GCSEs as Trent College hosts its first Sixth Form Open Morning of the new school year on Saturday 20 September.

Trent College students bucked the national A-level trend of a fall in overall pass rates and the numbers of students gaining the top A* and A grades in this year’s exams as 68% of all students’ results at the Long Eaton independent school were graded as A*-B, a 2% increase on 2013, while the school’s overall pass rate was 99.2%, also up on last year.

But as Trent College’s delighted students collected their results, it was clear that academics wasn’t the only area in which these high achievers had succeeded, with the majority of school’s whole range of talented young sportspeople, actors, artists and musicians having secured their first choice university place.

The Open Morning is designed to give prospective students and their parents a real taste for just how Trent College ensures that whatever field a young person wants to excel, they are encouraged and empowered to do so in a supportive Sixth Form environment where academic excellence comes in tandem with a thorough preparation for life.

With the Open Morning running from 9.30am-12pm, presentations on school life are given as well as visitors having an informal opportunity to meet and chat with staff and Sixth Form pupils, who can answer any questions you may have. You can also enjoy a tour of the extensive facilities and grounds to really get a sense of every day school life.

Situated on the border of Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire in Long Eaton, Trent College is a happy, flourishing co-educational school, which strives to enable young people to achieve their absolute personal bests.
