RTI and Auto Enrolment Form the Agenda of the Inaugural Institute of Financial Accountants' East Midlands Meeting

The Institute of Financial Accountants (IFA) is pleased to announce that the inaugural East Midlands local branch meeting is taking place this month (September). With a packed educational agenda, all professionals involved in accountancy, finance and tax in the East Midlands area are welcome to attend.

The new IFA local branch, chaired by Ikram Ul-Haq, is being held at the Stoney Croft Hotel, Elmfield Avenue, Leicester LE2 1RB, on Tuesday, September 30, 2014. This free to attend event will feature two sessions on real time information and auto enrolment.

The first session of the evening will be by Zeeshan Bawani, of Smartfield Accountants, who will be presenting on real time information (RTI). As an HMRC requirement from April 1, 2014, any failure to comply will lead to penalties so understanding RTI is of paramount importance.

Zeeshan will look to cover the reasons for RTI; HMRC's perspective; the pitfalls of RTI; and how to get RTI right.

The second and final session on the evening will see Ramsy Dhilon of Bobby Dhanial Wealth Management present on auto enrolment. As auto enrolment is a statutory requirement making every employer responsible, it is important to stay on top of the legalities.

The East Midlands branch meeting is one of a series of UK regional events being held by the IFA, the internationally recognised professional accountancy membership body whose members work for SMEs or who run or work in small and medium-sized accounting practices (SMPs) that advise SMEs.

The IFA, the voice of SMEs, supports more than 9,000 members and students in more than 80 countries with a programme of professional qualifications and education, as well as resources, events, training and seminars.

The East Midlands event, which will run from 6pm to 9pm with refreshments, attracts three CPD hours. It is open to financial professionals engaged in activities related to the accountancy profession, whether in practice or employment or not. It is regarded as one of the year's most profitable networking arenas.

IFA Marketing and Communications Director Russell Clemence said:

"We are excited that we now have an IFA local branch presence in the East Midlands. The inaugural meeting agenda is deliberately set up to meet the needs of our members in the area and also attract other professionals to attend. These subjects are particularly relevant to smaller firms, especially auto enrolment which affects every employer as well as every employee. It is really vital for employers to understand their obligations. All IFA UK local branches are designed to be educational and we look forward to welcoming local members at the East Midlands branch.”
