Trucking Neighbours!

Trucking Neighbours!

Alfreton-based distribution firm Allegro Transport has taken delivery of its greenest ever truck and they bought local!

Allegro Transport established nearly 50 years ago on the Cotes Park Industrial Estate in Alfreton and runs a fleet of 25 vehicles. The company boasts brand names, such as Thorntons, as customers.

As part of its investment in the business, Allegro has taken on a new Euro 6 tractor unit from local Renault trucks distributor RH Commercial Vehicles (RHCV), who are themselves based at Cotes Park Commercials which is on Clover Nook Road.

Andrew Litchfield, Managing Director at Allegro, commented on the new addition to the fleet, “We have been running Mercedes trucks for well over 30 years, but with this new truck we wanted a vehicle that adhered to the Euro 6 legislation that recently came into force.”

Euro 6 exhaust legislation is aimed at reducing emissions.  This legislation is part of a wider global approach to reducing harmful emissions from commercial vehicles which came into force January 2014.

Euro 6 legislation applies to all newly registered vehicles over 3.5 tonnes in the European Union. It will see emissions at their lowest since the first restrictions of Euro 1 came into force in 1993.

Allegro’s Commercial Manager, Chris Hilton, continues, “As a business we have known RHCV for years, but it was their new site, Cotes Park Commercials, around the corner from us in that tipped the balance in favour of a Renault truck. Having a neighbour maintain and service our new truck will certainly be simpler.”

Allegro Transport is located minutes away from RHCV’s 64,000 sq ft site in Alfreton, which RHCV purchased almost 12 months ago. RHCV has sites in Nottingham and Leicester and purchased Alfreton based Cotes Park Commercials last spring, as part of its strategic expansion across the East Midlands.

Paul Pearson, Director at RHCV, comments “We’re thrilled to be working with Allegro, especially as we are introducing them to our new Euro 6 range. Expanding our footprint with the Alfreton branch was a great decision as it has allowed us to win new business and Allegro’s new truck is a great example of that.”

RHCV purchased Cotes Park Commercials last year from previous owners Robert Knowles and Mike Hayes. Since then they have implemented plans to invest a substantial amount in the site with the addition of a new local Renault parts stock, diagnostic equipment and tooling to boost the service offered to new and existing customers.

RHCV is an authorised selling agent for Renault Trucks and provides new and used sales, service and parts for the full Renault Trucks range as well as all-makes parts and servicing for commercial vehicles.  It offers a full range of sales and aftermarket services including parts sales, dedicated paint shop and a designated MOT bay.
