Full Steam Ahead for Planning Consultants in New Office Serving the East Midlands

A top planning company that set up an office in Castle Donington to serve the East Midlands is confident that its presence will really be felt in the new year.

DLP Planning Consultants, which has its headquarters in Bedford, set up its seventh office at The Old Vicarage, in Market Street, Castle Donington, last autumn.

The company is one of the top 20 planning firms in the country based on staff and turnover. The East Midlands office is headed by Jim Lomas, a senior director who has switched from the Sheffield office. He has been with the company for 12 years after 13 years in local government, working for Leicestershire County Council, Manchester City Council and Sheffield City Council.

“We came here because we have projects in Derby, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire, so we felt that we needed a presence in the locality for existing clients and recognised the potential and economic strengths of the area,” he said.

The company was already working in projects in the area from its office in Sheffield, and felt they could be better served locally.

“Castle Donington is central and an accessible location and easy to serve the major conurbations and surrounding areas,” said Jim.

“We feel that we have had an impact already by bringing new clients and investment into the area.”

The company provides planning and development advice to a range of private and public sector clients.

It has been working with the local authority and landowners for the proposed Ripley-Codnor link road, represented Swanwick Parish Council in its objection at a public inquiry into plans for a crematorium,  is involved in a planning application for a solar farm at Sawley, and has been promoting land for housing at Burton, Nottingham and Mansfield.

The company hopes to take on more staff at Castle Donington to deal with its growing workload in the new year.
