New College Nottingham combines education and enterprise at leading entrepreneur festival

The Gazelle Colleges Group inspires Britain’s next generation at leading entrepreneurship event

New College Nottingham (ncn), which places enterprise at the heart of its teaching, attended the country’s leading entrepreneur festival as part of its drive to create closer ties between business and education.

MADE: The Entrepreneur Festival showcases the UK’s brilliant business talent. As a member of Gazelle Colleges Group - a headline sponsor of MADE - ncn’s delegates were involved in Gazelle’s programme of activities during the three-day festival including seminars, panel debates, student workshops and fringe events.

ncn student Max Lester, 18, was elected class representative by his fellow students and given the opportunity to attend a private question and answer session with The Duke of York, Peter Jones CBE and Olympic Gold medallist Duncan Goodhew. He said: “The festival was an amazing experience. It was a great confidence boost being surrounded by so many successful people.

“My course is part of ncn’s Peter Jones Enterprise Academy so to meet the man himself and have the chance to hear about his experiences, was brilliant.”

ncn Course Leader, Rebecca Kenton, commented: “Our students gained a lot from the visit. It enabled them to build upon the skills learnt on their course and they made some excellent contacts with established entrepreneurs.

“The event reinforced the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy ethos of bringing the boardroom into the classroom. Our students came away with real aspirations and a realisation that with hard work and perseverance you can achieve great things.”
