Hinckley to Benefit from Better Bus Services

Hinckley to Benefit from Better Bus Services

Improvements across Hinckleybus’ local network will finally be felt this week, as completion of town centre road works will enable bus users to benefit from a number of bolstered services.

The revised network came into force on 16th April, although it may have gone unnoticed whilst the necessary diversions in place, but now Hinckleybus, along with Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council, are keen to shout about how the new-look town centre will make bus travel even better for those hopping on-board.

Included in the changes, is the addition of new stops at the recently launched Hinckley Bus Station for The Crescent shopping centre, as well as on Regent Street for access to the market.

Service 1 will now run fast and direct from the town centre to Earl Shilton, whilst service 7 will serve the new housing development at Sketchley Brook, and has been extended to George Eliot Hospital in Nuneaton.

Following valuable customer feedback, service 2 will be reinstated for people living on Elwell Avenue in Barwell, plus services 8 and X55 will now be running both in and out of town via Hollier’s Walk and Castle Street, restoring a regular bus service from both ends of the town centre.

Steve Smith for Hinckleybus, part of Arriva, commented:

“We are constantly seeking to refine our networks to ensure that our customers are able to benefit from services that fit their requirements, and these improvements are as a direct response to what they have told us they want to see. We sincerely hope that together, ourselves and the Borough Council have delivered a network which will not only be of value to existing bus users, but also encourage more people to trial our services and see just how far we could take them.”

The Crescent, Hinckley, is a new development of retail, leisure and restaurant outlets. Sainsbury’s, Cineworld, TK Maxx, Prezzo, Wed2B, Costa, Tarro Lounge, Elbow Room, FAB, Burger King, Simply Gym, Mobility & Lifestyle, Poundland, GHM! and Rossini are all open at the development, with more names due to be announced shortly.

Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council’s Deputy Chief Executive, Bill Cullen, added:

“The council welcomes these enhanced bus services that now provide improved connections for our key outlying villages with the town centre.  It also provides a much sought-after enhanced service around the town centre, connecting both upper and lower Castle Street.

“With the increased demand generated by the recently completed Crescent shopping and leisure development, along with the opening of the flagship new leisure centre in the centre of the town, this is a welcome development by Arriva.

“The council will continue to work in partnership with local bus operators and partners to secure further transport improvements linked to future regeneration plans.”
