One trainee qualifies at legal firm, and two others are taken on – with more expected!

TWO trainees have started at Else Solicitors in Burton, following in the successful footsteps of another who has just qualified.

Laura Butchart works in the four-strong commercial property team headed by Peter Fox, while Daniel Woodall has joined the seven-strong dispute resolution team led by partner Andy Rudkin.

Twenty-eight-year-old Laura, from Burton, is a triple degree holder. She has a law degree with commendation from Nottingham Law School, an MSc with commendation in international business from Dundee University and first class honours BA in sport from the University of Durham.

Before deciding to study law she worked in marketing for Leicester City Football Club to practise her sport and business education and also worked for a recruitment firm.

As part of her law course she did work experience with Else. Afterwards, she worked for another law firm until she signed her training contract.

Laura enjoys running, exercising at a gym and watching as well as playing sport.

Daniel(24), of Burbage, Leicestershire, gained his law degree after studying at the University of Exeter and BPP School of Law. He is now completing his MA in law with business.

He worked as a paralegal with firms in the Midlands and London and had a brief stint as a specialist land adviser for the National Farmers Union.

They follow Gemma Gallimore, who two years ago started at the firm as a trainee and has just qualified. She gained a first class honours law degree from the University of Derby and a distinction in her legal practice course at Birmingham Law School.

Gemma(27), from Barton-under-Needwood, did work experience in criminal defence with a Derby firm. At Else she worked in three areas of law before qualifying and has now joined the four-strong corporate and commercial team led by partner Adam Gilbert.

After qualifying and before starting full-time with Else Gemma went on a celebratory touring trip in her camper van around France, Italy, and Croatia.

Partner Chris Else, who founded the firm in 2003, said: “We are delighted that Gemma has proved herself by qualifying, and we hope that Laura and Daniel have an equally enjoyable and learning experience with us.”

Gemma, Laura and Daniel are all based at the company's headquarters in First Avenue.

The company is looking to take on more trainees in September.
